Sickness and diseases came after the fall of man in the garden of Eden, but God promised to take away sickness and diseases from the midst of His people-Deuteronomy 7:15.
Divine healing is the supernatural intervention from God to restore wholesomeness to our minds, bodies and spirits. God’s heart for healing His people was revealed through the words given to prophet Isaiah about Jesus the Messiah in Isaiah 53. The prophecy in Isaiah 53 beautifully captures the suffering and the glory of Jesus Christ. The heart of God and the overall purpose of the gospel message is revealed in every verse. Jesus Christ is the one who came as a Servant and Savior, took our pain, bore our sin, and brought us peace with God. Jesus Christ is the One who saves our souls, and we are healed by His stripes. Our healing has been paid for with the blood of Jesus-Isaiah 53:5, Psalm 103:2, Psalm 103:3,Jeremiah 30:17.
We are healed, forgiven, and made whole in Jesus Christ according to God’s divine plan and purpose. Understanding that God is sovereign and wise in all His ways is foundational to understanding divine healing. Accepting the sovereignty of God helps us to trust in His perfect plan for us and humbly submit to His perfect will for us in every area of our lives including healing from sicknesses, diseases and afflictions. The same Holy Spirit that quickened Jesus Christ from the grave is dwelling in us and at work in us and through us accordance with God’s divine power and purpose which can never be defeated-Roman 8:11, 1 Corinthians 2:10, 1 Corinthians 2:12, 1John 5:14.
When we are faced with of sickness or pain, there is a symbolic reminder of the divine provision and care that we receive from God, our heavenly Father in Matthew 15:26.
The phrase “Healing is the Children’s Bread” helps us to understand that healing is not only a physical restoration but also a spiritual blessing that is part of God’s provision for His children. Healing being the children’s bread speaks to the inherent right and privilege that believers have to experience wholeness in every aspect of their lives-Psalm 34:19, 3 John 1:2, Psalm 41:3.
Jesus Christ spoke the word to heal the sick and delivered people from diseases and oppression. He is still doing the same today. Divine healing is for all believers in every generation. God is still at work today according to His sovereign will in all circumstances and situation-Hebrews 13:8, 1 Peter 2:24, Psalm 147:3.
Divine intervention changes situations. The act of God cannot be denied even if it is hard to explain. It defies human logic and goes beyond our human understanding. The power of God cannot be explained by science because it is beyond scientific knowledge. This is why some healings people experience cannot be explained. Our heavenly father is the God of science and above science. Sometimes, He chooses to work through the care and knowledge of medical doctors to heal people and sometimes he intervenes directly to restore wholesomeness even at the point of death. He does all this and more in His sovereignty. As believers, this understanding not only helps us to submit to His will but also to give Him all the glory in whichever He chooses to intervene in our situations because the prayer of faith for healing applies in all circumstances. God’s love and compassion for us does not change. It is the great love and unending compassion of God that sustains us in both sickness and in health-James 5:14, James 5:15, Mark 5:34, Lamentations 3:22, 23.
