Be still and know that He is God-Psalm 46:10
Do you have a quiet happy place? A place where all is peaceful and tranquil. Far away from the sometimes-maddening crowd. Away from the hustle and bustle of life?
We are created for times of solitude which is totally different from living life in isolation. We all need a reset now and then, we need times of sober, deep reflections and prayer.
Solitary times are necessary for our growth and depth in our journey of life and faith. It gives us an opportunity to focus on God and put other things where they belong. It changes our perspective about life, faith and the challenges we face.
For instance, times we spend alone in nature connects or reconnects us to God, our maker. We appreciate God when we ponder on the masterpiece of His creation. We calm our minds and spirits when we intentionally slow down and spend time in nature or somewhere quiet. We come away with recharged batteries and a clearer or better perspective about life and the issues we are dealing with. We learn not to sweat over small things and rather look at the bigger picture. In the midst of our natural surroundings or learning to be still right where we are, we can come to a deeper realization that God is indeed God-Psalm 104:24
In the stillness of nature, whether it’s on a mountain top, by the seaside or ocean with the blue endless skies or in the thick of a forest with the singing of the birds, we have the opportunity for a therapeutic experience that we all need. Talk to God, delight in His sweet and contagious joy that comes with His presence. Allow your heart sing songs of praise and thanksgiving for who He is not just for the things He has done for you. Worship Him from the very root of your soul and you will never be the same! Do it again and again and treasure those moments captured in eternity as you bask and delight in God’s presence and He delights in you-Zephaniah 3:17
So find your “happy quiet place” today even if it is your backyard garden or a cabin. Enjoy a time of solitude again and again so you can engage with the world refreshed by His Holy Spirit, recharged and alert to be able ambassadors of Jesus Christ who from time to time had solitary moments-2 Corinthians 5:18
