God not only loves us, but He also heals our broken hearts just as He heals our bodies from sickness and diseases. The Lord is indeed close to those with a broken heart and saves those crushed in their spirits. God is close to those in emotional pain, those who have been betrayed or abandoned. God provides hope and renewal by healing both the spiritual and emotional wounds we carry-Psalm 34:18, Psalm 147:3.
Our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, declared God’s intent in His mission statement at the synagogue of Nazareth, reading from the Prophet Isaiah as a sign of the fulfillment of God’s promise from of old. Jesus Christ declared that He came to bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim freedom for the captives, and release captives from darkness. God’s intent to bring healing and freedom to those who are hurting is never in question! Jesus Christ is our compassionate healer and restorer, even when all seems lost and irreparable-Luke 4:16, Isaiah 61:1.
We will all experience painful times in varying degrees as we journey through life. God is always near, and our tears are bottled in heaven. We are assured of His continuous divine presence throughout our darkest and most desolate times. God is our ever-present comfort and help in every season of our lives. Jesus Christ is the one who will never leave or forsake us. Jesus Christ is the one who is closer to us than anyone in the entire wide world. God’s promises in the Bible about healing broken hearts reiterate that God is always with us in our moments of deep despair or prolonged sorrow. God always wants us to bring our sorrows and burdens to Him, even when we feel or think no one cares. God sustains us and heals our emotional pain and wounds as we trust in Him. Jesus Christ came to save, heal, and restore us. He came to save our souls from eternal damnation, deliver us from destruction, lighten our daily burdens, and heal our hearts each time they are broken if we let Him –Psalm 56:8, Psalm 46:1, Psalm 27:10, Jeremiah 30:17.
The Bible, in several verses, encourages us to trust God with our broken hearts because He is always willing to heal our deep hurts and deepest pains. Our pain and sorrows should draw us closer to God rather than making us resentful, because our healing starts from abiding in God’s presence. God draws near to us in our pain to actively heal and restore our broken hearts so we can be whole again. He puts every shattered or battered heart back together with His overwhelming love that heals and renews us for beautiful beginnings! Sorrows and trials are temporary, regardless of how long they may seem to last in our lives. There are times of laughter, even in our times of deep sorrow, because God by His Holy Spirit is our comforter and the One who sustains us. God provides comfort, courage, and healing to those with broken hearts. He is the only certainty in the midst of uncertainty –Psalm 55:22, 1 Peter 5:7.
It is important to open our hearts to God’s love in every phase of our lives. Embracing God’s love helps us to trust in His care and plan for us during and beyond times of trials. Our hearts are safe and secured in God’s love for us, even when the people we love and trust fail us. There is nothing that can separate us from His love. The ability to navigate the unknown territory of a broken heart comes from the Holy Spirit. We are not alone! God does not abandon us in our times of sorrow. He encourages us to come to His throne of grace and mercy boldly. Take your deep pain and sorrows to the Lord today. Jesus Christ is your comforter and healer. He will never leave you or forsake you. He understands your deepest sorrow and pain. Pour out your heart to Him right now. Ask Him to heal your broken heart, and He will do His perfect work in you because healing the broken-hearted is part of what He does all the time for anyone who will put their trust in Him-Hebrews 4:16, Lamentations 3:22.
